Gorka: Trump’s Afghanistan Speech Represents ‘Resurgence of the Flawed Thinking of the Last 16 Years’

Former White House national security aide Dr. Sebastian Gorka told the Michael Savage Show Wednesday that President Trump’s speech on Afghanistan this month represented the “resurgence of the flawed thinking of the last 16 years.”

Trump disappointed many in his “America First” base this month when he announced a new policy in Afghanistan — one that included a ramping up of the number of troops in the war.

Gorka, who resigned last week in the wake of the speech, dismissed claims that the speech represented the takeover of the administration, saying that “I don’t think it’s that simple.”

“It’s not about the generals taking over, it’s about the resurgence of the flawed thinking of the last 16 years,” he said.

We came into the building, people like [former White House Chief Strategist] Steve Bannon and myself, the political appointees committed to the MAGA Make America Great Again agenda — one part of which was the obliteration of radical Islamic terrorist groups like ISIS. And when the president is served his speech by his speechwriters and by the NSC experts that doesn’t once, not once, mention radical Islam or radical Islamic terrorism after he used the phrase in front of Congress, and in Riyadh and in Warsaw , I realized that I can no longer support the president from the inside and I want to do it from the outside.

Gorka also clarified that he was not dismissed, as some media outlets had reported, and that instead, he contacted White House Chief of Staff John Kelly after the Afghanistan speech and then formally resigned on Friday.

Gorka also told Savage he is working with Bannon (who is now the Executive Chairman of Breitbart News) at creating a national security platform to “help the president defeat…Islamofascists, the global jihadists that are out there before they can do more harm to America and her allies.”

He also offered some encouragement to supporters of Trump who may have been dismayed by his speech. When asked who in the White House has the most influence over Trump, Gorka said Trump told him after his resignation that he is sticking to his agenda and wants Gorka’ support:

“I’m not going to fuel the fan of internal arguments over cliques, the fact is these things changes and are shifting sands. The fact is: the president is going to stay the course, that’s what the listeners need to understand,” he said.
