Obama Campaign Promise: 'This Is My Last Campaign', Still Asking For Contributions

Congressman Jose Serrano (D – NY) recently submitted a long shot bill intended to change the Constitution that would end presidential term limits. :

New York Democratic Rep. Jose Serrano is once again proposing a constitutional amendment to end presidential term limits – hoping to break his losing streak on the resolution that dates back roughly 15 years.

However, the 12-term congressman likely faces long odds, as before, considering the resolution has no sponsors, never got a vote last year in the Republican-controlled House, needs two-thirds support in both chambers and ratification from roughly 75 percent of state legislatures.

The joint resolution would repeal the 22nd Amendment to the Constitution.

President Barack Obama made it clear not once not twice but several times on the campaign trail that the 2012 presidential campaign was his “last.” :

So the bottom line is that for those of you who were feeling pretty good on Election Day and feel like you did your part, we’re signing you back up. (Laughter.) You’ve got more work to do. This is my last campaign, so I’m going to put everything I’ve got into it. I have been so blessed to have the privilege of being President of the United States, but as I mentioned earlier tonight, I didn’t run for President just to be President. Frankly, Michelle would have been happy if I had just kept on teaching and writing books. And the girls, they’re happy wherever they go — they are just thriving. The reason we’re going to put ourselves through this thing one more time, because our job’s not finished, and I believe in finishing something that we started.”

President Obama in a note to supporters today:
This is my last campaign, and I’m ready to give it all I’ve got.
I know supporters like you are, too.
Thank you so much for your support in these final weeks.
Please make a donation before tonight’s deadline.
Thank you,
Barack

This is my last campaign, and the only reason I’m running is to make sure we can finish what we started.

And he took aim at Mayor Bloomberg’s ban on large servings of soda. Win or lose, “This is my last campaign, so I’m trying to drink it all in. Unfortunately, Mayor Bloomberg will only let me have 16 ounces,” he added.

Obama: “This is my last campaign.”

In December 2012, Politicker.com reported the Obama campaign was still asking for contributions:

It’s not a surprise Mr. Obama’s operations are still moving forward in some form; his campaign manager, Jim Messina, had already publicly signaled that Obama for America would continue to exist.

However, Mr. Messina did indicate the fundraising itself will change. “I think anything’s possible,” he explained. “What’s true is just from FEC law, the campaign needs to shut down. We cannot expend funds for non-presidential activities. So we have got to figure out what we do next. That’s a conversation we’re having with our supporters now.”

The Obama campaign, as of this posting, is still asking for contributions.
