Of course, Politico’s Glenn Thrush didn’t mean to corroborate Jason Mattera’s story about Mayor Michael Bloomberg hiding behind a throng of security bent on intimidating a journalist armed only with a Big Gulp and a tough question or two.
His snarky tweet was meant to slam Mattera as an “asshat”:

No matter how obnoxious and priggish the Politico White House reporter is, we still appreciate him acknowledging the basics of the story about Bloomberg. We only wish he had the same nose for news Mattera has. If he did, maybe he’d report to the world about the douche-bag behavior of our elected officials and how they treat journalists.
In fact, since the White House is his current beat, one wonders how his precious lack of “ass-hattery” is keeping him from reporting on the toxic behavior he witnesses there.
