DC metro traffic is worse than LA metro traffic

In response to DC tops list of nation’s worst traffic:

I’ve been living in SoCal for 15 years now. Traffic here can be bad. A one hour trip can become a two hour trip if you don’t plan ahead. That said, the daily crawl on the 95 south and 66 west in Virginia are as bad as anything the 405 can dish out during rush hour here in CA.

Also, the single worst traffic jam I’ve ever personally experienced happened on the 495 in Virginia. I can’t recall what caused it but I remember spending three hours camped out on the highway in the middle of summer. People were getting out of their cars and sharing water with one another. This was pre-cell phone or at least pre-cheap cell phone. My car was overheating every time I had to move it a few yards. Good times.
