Irish Dance Family Devastated By Boston Bombing

A family associated with a local Irish dance academy has been devastated by the terrorist bomb attack at the Boston marathon, Irish Dance Magazine reported on Facebook. There to see his father run,  eight year old, Martin Richard perished in the blast. His Irish dancing little sister, seven year old Jane lost her leg and their mother is also in the hospital with severe injuries.

Sadly, IDM has confirmed that the information we shared earlier this morning is true. An Irish dance family has been devastated by the tragedy yesterday in Boston. The brother, only 8 years old, died in the blast. The Mom is in the hospital with severe injuries and the beautiful little girl, who is an Irish dancer, has lost her leg. We don’t know any additional information at this time. The only thing you can do is pray.

The NY Daily News has more on the family.

Martin was killed — one of three victims who died in the blasts that
were described by President Obama as an “act of terror.” His 6-year-old
sister, Jane, lost a leg. His mother, Denis — a librarian at
Neighborhood House Charter School — suffered a serious brain injury.
They are among over 140 injured by the bombs.

“My dear son Martin has died from injuries sustained in the attack on Boston. My wife and daughter are both recovering from serious injuries,” said Bill Richard in a statement. “We thank our family and friends, those we know and those we have never met, for their thoughts and prayers. I ask that you continue to pray for my family as we remember Martin.”

Bill Richard and the eldest brother, Henry, were not seriously injured, but doctors did remove ball bearings from Bill Richard’s leg, said Lynch (D-Mass.).

An account has been set up to help the Richard family with medical costs.
