Rep. Throws the Book–the Constitution–at Former IRS Chief

Rep. John Mica (R-FL) literally waved the Constitution at former IRS Commissioner Douglas Shulman at a House Oversight Committee hearing on the IRS scandal Wednesday, arguing that the IRS had suppressed the freedom of speech of Americans.

“You closed them down for 27 months,” he told Shulman, holding up a poster of a timeline in his other hand.

Shulman shifted uncomfortably as he tried to answer Mica’s questions.

Rep. Mica ended by asking Shulman whether he had made any political contributions to political parties or groups. Shulman acknowledged that he had, but said that he had not done so in a long time, and had not done so as IRS Commissioner.
