Man Humiliated In Bar Fight, Tries To Burn Down Bar

(WICHITA, Kan.) — Wichita police arrested a man early Monday morning who they say was attempting to burn down a bar. According to a report, the 43-year-old suspect was involved in a fight earlier at the bar during which he was apparently punched in the face and then ridiculed by several patrons who laughed at him for getting punched.

“This angered him so he decided that he going to burn the bar down,” said Lt. Doug Nolte, a spokesman for the WPD.

Lt. Nolte went on to say that the man returned to the bar with some sort of torch and set a back fence on fire. A witness flagged down an officer who then confronted the only man still holding a torch.

The man was arrested and booked on arson charges. The fire was put out, having never spread to the bar.
