Passenger Jumps From Moving Train To Retrieve Cell Phone….Struck By 2nd Train

West Palm Beach, Fla. – A man is in extremely critical condition after he reportedly jumped from the train on which he was riding and was then struck by a second train.  According to officials, the incident took place Monday night around 8:11 p.m. at the Palm Beach Tri-Rail station after a 26-year-old Eddie Diaz apparently realized he had left his cell phone behind on a bench.  Witnesses told police Diaz broke the glass covering the emergency safety mechanism and pulled the lever. When the doors opened, he jumped. He landed on a platform but fell backward, hitting his head.

He was subsequently struck by another train and was taken to St. Mary’s Medical Center.
