CBS News is reporting that one of the so-called ‘fixes’ recently applied to HealthCare.gov is behind people being given incorrect pricing information. In some cases, the actual costs of insurance can be twice as much as what the website would have you believe.
(CBS News) CBS News has uncovered a serious pricing problem with HealthCare.gov. It stems from the Obama administration’s efforts to improve its health care website. A new online feature can dramatically underestimate the cost of insurance.
The administration announced it would provide a new “shop and browse” feature Sunday, but it’s not giving consumers the real picture. In some cases, people could end up paying double of what they see on the website, CBS News’ Jan Crawford reported Wednesday on “CBS This Morning.”
Add that to a new New York Times report that ObamaCare fails to keep prices low in rural areas and Obama’s ‘signature’ initiative seems to be getting worse and worse with each new day.
As technical failures bedevil the rollout of President Obama’s health care law, evidence is emerging that one of the program’s loftiest goals — to encourage competition among insurers in an effort to keep costs low — is falling short for many rural Americans.
Reducing insurance costs – by as much as $2500 in many cases – was a key promise made by Obama when he was selling his plan. Clearly that is not happening.
