LA Times: TSA Agent and Gunman Dead In The Wake Of LAX Shooting Update: Gunman In Critical Condition

In response to Shooting at LAX Terminal 3; TSA Agent Wounded:

It’s now being reported by the Los Angeles Times that a TSA agent was shot and killed at the passenger screening checkpoint, this morning at LAX. The gunman is also reportedly dead and is believed to have been a TSA employee at LAX. Sources from the LA Police Dept. said “they don’t believe the suspect was tied to any known terrorist groups.”

“It was surreal,” Tom Lagos, who saw the alleged gunman, told the Daily News. “My wife and I were waiting for our flight to Newark at Gate 33 in the Virgin terminal, and we just saw a stampede of people headed in our direction with incredible fear in their eyes.”

Lagos said several TSA agents opened emergency exits so bystanders could escape on the tarmac. He said he helped his wife to safety, but turned back for their luggage – and spotted the gunman stalking through the terminal.

12:02 p.m.: Seven people treated by LAFD. Six transported to hospitals. 

12:01 p.m.: LAX says some flights diverted to Ontario. Latest updates on flight schedule can be found on Twitter. @lax_official. Flights will be significantly delayed. 

12:00 p.m.: Gannon said “multiple victims” have been shot. He did not provide further details.

Update:

The Times earlier reported that the suspect was dead. But sources have since told the paper that he is in critical condition.
