Jake Tapper Asks: Did Obama Take Christie's Advice?

On the Lead today Jake Tapper asks whether President Obama’s semi-apology for insurance cancellations follow Chris Christie’s advice not to “lawyer it.”

In an interview on Tuesday, Tapper asked if Christie had any advice for the President who was reeling from a disasterous attempt to revisit his “if you like your plan you can keep it” promise. Christie responded “Don’t lawyer it.”

Within a few hours of that advice airing on CNN, the President had switched gears and offered an apology of sorts.

Of course what’s probably going on here is that Christie saw the obvious before the President did or at least before he had a time to make his new approach public in an evening interview with Chuck Todd. In any case, it’s significant that it took the President two tries to get to the right answer but only took Christie one.
