Senate Dems Pulling an All Nighter To Draw Attention To Climate Change

In case you hadn’t heard, Senate Democrats are pulling an all-night “talkathon” tonight to bring attention to climate change issues. I know – please contain your excitement. You can watch it live on CSPAN.

Sen. Brian Schatz (D-Hawaii) is leading a group of 28 or so lawmakers from the Senate Climate Action Task Force through an 11-hour overnight session designed to “wake up Congress to the disturbing realities of climate change” as Sen. Barbara Boxer (D-Calif.) put it.

The Senator from Maine just compared skeptics ignoring the daunting challenge of climate change to appeasers ignoring the NAZI menace in the 1930s.

Earlier on in the marathon session, Alabama Republican Jeff Sessions called on Democrats to present a bill on the Senate floor, adding that they lack the votes needed to get such a bill passed.

Sessions said the ‘American people are feeling the crunch already’ from heavy-handed energy regulations

“(These false claims about climate change) become more than an exaggeration, but a deliberate misrepresentation.”
