With Hobby Lobby Reaction the Hillary Clown Show Rolls On

Apparently Hillary has lost her edge since the days when she was defending child rapists from jail. Back then she was able to discern her client’s obvious guilt. Today she’s apparently no longer able to see the truth even after reading the Supreme Court’s decision which spells it out in detail.

If you missed her instant reaction to the Hobby Lobby decision, it was case study in ignorance or, more likely, politically motivated dishonesty. Hillary claimed, “It’s very troubling that a sales clerk at Hobby Lobby who needs contraception, which is pretty expensive, is not going to get that service through her employer’s health care plan because her employer doesn’t think she should be using contraception.”

Every word of this explanation is a lie. At $15 to $30 a month for the pill, the cost of birth control is not terribly high. But of course that assumes Hobby Lobby objected to paying for it in the first place. In reality, Hobby Lobby did not object to paying for most forms of birth control including the pill, the one most commonly used by American women to prevent pregnancy. Here’s Time magazine on this point:

The company objected to paying for
emergency contraception including Plan B, Ella–both commonly known as
the morning after pill–plus two types of IUDs. Hobby Lobby said they
believe these types of birth control amount to abortion. The company did
not object to covering other types of contraception, including birth
control pills.

The Atlantic, writing about the same issue, says, “Hobby Lobby already covers 16 types of birth control, including birth control pills.” But somehow this fact seems to have eluded Hillary, She does not mention it in her five minute response.

The pill (which again, Hobby Lobby pays for via insurance) is a much more popular choice for birth control in American than the IUD. That’s according to research by the Guttmacher Institute, i.e. Planned Parenthood’s research arm. The ratio of pill users to IUD users was more than 5:1 in 2010.

So this idea that a sales clerk at Hobby Lobby can no longer get contraception on her employer sponsored insurance is just false. In fact the birth control she is most likely already using will still be covered. Hillary either knows this and is lying or doesn’t know and shouldn’t be discussing the issue in public until she does. Progressives can take their pick but either way Hillary’s loose talk doesn’t reflect very well on her.
