Michelle Obama to Stump in Detroit Despite Diet Flap

Michelle Obama to Stump in Detroit Despite Diet Flap
Some Democrats don’t want anyone named Obama anywhere near their races, according to the New York Times.

“She’s awesome, but it just brings in the name Obama,” said a Democratic strategist in a state with a close Senate race, who, like most other Democrats interviewed, declined to be identified discussing politics involving Mrs. Obama.

And then there are her own issues with some fellow Democrats to boot: Michelle Obama Won’t Campaign For Democrats Because She’s Mad Over Letter About Potatoes.

Somehow that’s all now being brushed aside, as she plans to campaign in Detroit.  It’s unclear if her aides will be telling reporters to not talk to her audience, as has been claimed in the past.

The White House said Monday first lady Michelle Obama will be in Detroit on Friday to campaign for Democrats Gary Peters and Mark Schauer, who are running for the U.S. Senate and for governor.

The event will be at the Detroit Music Hall Center for the Performing Arts in downtown Detroit. Information about how to attend and obtain tickets will be released later in the week.
