7-Month-Old Found with Cocaine in Body

A seven-month-old child was found with cocaine in his system after his father left loose pills that included prescription drugs and narcotics such as Ecstasy in reach of its crib.

San Luis Obispo County Sheriff deputies descended on the Atascadero home of Billy Lee Remick, 26, after they discovered he was trying to ship 559 grams of marijuana. Using a search warrant, the deputies found 62 grams of cocaine stuffed in an oatmeal can that was ready to be mailed.

After a further search, the deputies found Remick’s son in a crib with the drugs on a nightstand within the baby’s reach. After getting a urine sample for the child, the cocaine was found in the child’s urine. The baby was given to Child Welfare Services, and Remick was charged with possessing a controlled substance for sale and willful cruelty to a child.

He was held in the San Luis Obispo County Jail.
