The New York Rangers/LA Kings matchup for the NHL Finals was supposed to be as good as it gets for a sport not known for huge ratings.
Two big media cities battling it out for Lord Stanley’s Cup–it could be just what the sport ordered. Instead, the current matchup is hardly exciting viewers.
Wednesday’s game, in which the Rangers successfully kept their championship dreams alive, scored a 2.0 rating and just over three million viewers on NBC Sports Network.
In LA, the game ha a 7.3 rating, while New Yorkers tuned in for an 8.1 rating.
Game 5 is tonight, and if the Rangers manage to win two in a row interest in the series may spike for game 6. LA currently leads the series 3-1.
