Inmate Serving Life Gets 25 Years To Life For Murdering Suspected Child Molester

A Los Angeles inmate already serving a life sentence for murder and robbery was sentenced on Friday to an additional 25 years to life for the 1997 strangling of a fellow inmate suspected of child molestation.

According to the Los Angeles Times, 42-year-old Jamie Vidales pleaded no contest to one count of murder for strangling Miguel Sanchez to death, and was sentenced immediately. Vidales had not yet been sentenced to life when he beat and strangled Sanchez in a holding cell at the Men’s Central Jail in Los Angeles nearly 14 years ago.

A sheriff’s deputy reportedly found Sanchez’s lifeless body on a bunk bed in a jail dorm room.

Another inmate who had helped Vidales strangle Sanchez was subsequently killed himself in a Los Angeles County jail, prosecutors said.
