Murrieta Town Hall Vents Anger at Feds Over Alien Transfers

A town hall in Murrieta, CA on Wednesday evening erupted into anger at the federal government over its failure to enforce immigration laws, as counter-demonstrators outside showed support for the illegal aliens–many of them women and children–being transported to the community from Border Patrol facilities in Texas. Local KCAL9 News reported that 750 residents gathered inside the local high school, and hundreds were turned away.

The town had been the scene of a dramatic confrontation earlier in the week between over 100 demonstrators and buses carrying 140 illegal aliens. The protestors, waving signs and American flags, blocked a road and turned away the buses, which brought the detainees south to a Border Patrol facility in Chula Vista instead.

The overwhelming sentiment inside the hall supported the protests and opposed the federal government’s new policy. Though President Barack Obama recently promised that authorities would turn the children away, in practice they have done the opposite. “If I break the law, you’re gonna come down on me real quick. And yet you are not following the law. You are breaking the law,” one woman told federal authorities, to audience cheers.
