Hollywood Welcomes Obama Anew for More Fundraisers, Traffic Nightmares

No matter how many scandals rock his administration, President Barack Obama will always feel welcome in Hollywood. And the industry, in turn, will open up its coffers for him.

The President is back in the entertainment capital this week for a fresh round of fundraisers. Next week, he’ll honor a man who wrote some very large checks for his presidential campaigns.

First up: fundraisers at the home of TV producer Shonda Rhimes and LiveNation CEO Michael Rapino. according to

Tickets [for the Rhimes event] begin at $1,000,  with the price rising to $10,000 to attend the reception and to have a photo taken with Obama. It climbs to $32,400 — the maximum allowable contribution to a national party committee in a calendar year — to co-host the event and to attend a dinner with Obama as well. On Thursday, Obama is scheduled to attend a roundtable discussion with about 30 people at the Los Angeles home of Live Nation CEO Michael Rapino with tickets reportedly costing $32,400 each. The money raised at both events will help U.S. House and Senate Democratic candidates in the midterm elections this November.

On July 28, Obama will award Jeffrey Katzenberg of DreamWorks fame the National Medal of Arts. Katzenberg coughed up a cool $10 million toward Obama’s two presidential campaigns, according to Finke.
