Stockton Blunts High Crime Reputation with Facebook Page

A Stockton man is showing his support for his city police department by creating a web page dedicated to the men and women who risks their lives to battle crime.

After a recent deadly bank robbery, the Stockton Police department is suffering from a negative public perception as a result of a hostage being killed during the shootout with the perpetrators. Attorneys for Misty Holt-Singh, who was found dead after being taken hostage, are investigating whether the robbers or the police were responsible for shooting her.

Along with other crimes in the city, Stockton’s reputation has been tarnished. An anonymous resident created the “Stockton Police Department Support Page” on Facebook “to show Stockton PD there are people out there to support them.” The facebook page demonstrates that “They are doing a good job and the community is behind them.”

FOX40 reported that the page had received more than 3,200 “likes” by Monday night. “The main intention for creating the page is to show the Stockton Police that there are people out there that support them,” said the page’s creator. “I hate the bad press, I don’t agree with the ‘unfactual truths’ about Stockton–that living in Stockton means your life is constantly in danger.”
