The co-founder of Twitter marched side-by-side with outraged protesters in Ferguson in response to the killing of a troubled African-American 18-year-old by a Ferguson police officer.
Writing on his verified Twitter feed Friday, Jack Dorsey, who helped start the San Francisco-based company in 2006, exclaimed that he was “Heading home to St. Louis.” The Los Angeles Times reported that Dorsey was tweeting videos on Saturday that showed him alongside marchers and St. Louis Alderman Antonio French. French has been a serial tweeter of pictures and videos chronicling the chaos in Ferguson over the last several days. He has highlighted scenes of conflicts between protesters and police.
According to the Times, #Ferguson has been the top trend on Twitter for nearly the entire week, garnering four million tweets. Notably, Topsy.com, a social media trends and statistics website, revealed that in one hour on Saturday, about 23,000 tweets carried the hashtag.
