Man Allegedly Cooked Ex-Girlfriend's Dog, Fed It to Her

A man from Northern California was arrested Thursday and charged with animal cruelty, domestic violence, stalking and false imprisonment after his ex-girlfriend said they reconciled for a meal he had cooked and served for her: her dog.

Ryan Watenpaugh’s ex-girlfriend told law enforcement that he had struck her many times before they broke up. She added that after one incident, when she returned to her Redding apartment, her Pomeranian, “Bear,” was missing.

But then, last week, Watenpaugh, of Palo Cedro, pretended to have a reconciliation, cooked her a meal, then later texted her: “Oh, and ps How’s your dog taste? I thought it was better with BBQ and Hawaiian Buns. I guess u could bury what u didn’t eat Ahh. the smile on my face when u read this is priceless”

Watenpaugh allegedly left two of the Pomerian’s paws outside his ex-girlfriend’s door on Tuesday. He has since denied killing or cooking the dog.
