Free Weed with Proof of Vote in Sacramento

One dispensary in Sacramento came up with a novel way to get out the vote in the midterm election on Tuesday: free marijuana for anyone who came in with an “I Voted” sticker.

According to local affiliate CBS13, the River City Phoenix dispensary in Sacramento offered a free gram of marijuana for those with proof they voted. The promotion only applied to existing customers and those with valid medical marijuana recommendations.

“Especially with the business and what we’re doing, it is really important that people get involved even if it may not pertain to this particular ballot [because] most of the time there’s always something on there involving medical marijuana,” dispensary employee Shayna Schonauer told CBS13.

Schonauer told KCRA that the promotion had attracted about a dozen customers by midday Tuesday.
