On Monday, Border Patrol agents took down a previously deported sexual battery felon illegal alien in the El Centro sector of the U.S.-Mexico border, U.S. Customs and Border Protection reported.
Convicted in 2010 for felony sexual battery in Salt Lake City, Utah, 33-year old Jose Murillo was reportedly caught while attempting to illegally re-enter the United States. After being transported to the Calexico border station, Murillo was determined to have multiple convictions for illegal entry after being removed.
Murillo is being held and will be processed and prosecuted for re-entry, a U.S. Customs and Border Protection release stated.
Seven sex offenders, 28 gang members and one attempted murderer/aggravated felon have been arrested in the El Centro sector in the fiscal year, according to a Border Patrol spokesman.
