The Public Policy Institute of California has conducted a new poll that suggests Californians are delighted with Barack Obama, Governor Jerry Brown, and even the Democrat-run state legislature.

The poll finds that Brown now has a 61% approval rating, 20 percentage points higher than he did at his January 2011 inaugural. Likewise, 60% of voters also approve of Barack Obama’s handling of his job.

57% of respondents believe that the state is heading in the right direction, with 36% disagreeing. 49% of voters approved of the Legislature, while 36% disapproved.

Roughly 75% of voters like Brown’s request for state workers to contribute to their own health care when they retired, and almost 40% want taxes on commercial properties raised.

Half of respondents said they want the additional tax revenues from Proposition 30 to be extended past 2016, while 42% oppose that idea. 66% of Democrats approved of an extension; 63% of Republicans opposed it.

On immigration, 69% of California voters agree with President Barack Obama’s actions to protect up to four million illegal immigrants from deportation. Only 30% opposed those plans.

The poll surveyed over 1,700 adults, with a margin of error of 3.6%.
