Cries and screams coming from a parked car in Hanford California, alerted a man to come over to the vehicle where he found a 16-year-old girl with her hands bound and her face beaten to the point of not being able to open her eyes.
ABC Eyewitness News reported that the girl had allegedly been beaten with a tire iron and repeatedly raped by her boyfriend Eddie Perez, 19, of Avenal.
Saturday Perez was arrested and taken into custody at Kings County Jail and faces several charges including false imprisonment, kidnapping, rape and torture. Hanford police had been searching for Perez ever since the battered woman was found on Friday afternoon.
Albert Martinez who raced down his stairway at his apartment complex to find the screaming woman, told Eyewitness News that, “Her face was really bruised. She was having a very hard time looking at who she was talking to. She couldn’t really put a focus on me. Her eyes she couldn’t really open.”
Martinez said the teenager was barely conscious and had told him that she had been held captive. “She was really panicked, and crying and really scared,” he said.
The girl, who had been reported as a runaway before being found, is recovering from surgery and is expected to be OK. Investigators say that the boyfriend for the last five days allegedly forced the girl to stay in the car, and have sex with him. Moreover, Perez allegedly bound her hands and made her go to the bathroom inside the car.
