Sometime between Monday night and Tuesday morning, three flags were stolen from the Karl Ross American Legion Hall Post 16 in Stockton.

According to RecordNet, an American flag measuring 52-by-25 feet, a 3-by-5-foot California flag and a 3-by-5-foot POW/MIA flag were taken according to Post Commander Danny Wren, 53, who had served in Somalia, Kuwait, Iraq, and Afghanistan.

Wren said, “It really saddens my heart because I flew home with coffins that had the American flag draped over them. It brings a tear to my eye because most of the veterans here are combat veterans, and a lot of us died for that flag.”

VA&R State Chairman Tino Adame, 67, a Purple Heart recipient who was wounded in Vietnam, said, “This is the first time since our post has been here that anything like this has happened. This is an attack on our country, our post and on veterans everywhere.”

Fox News 40 quoted Vice Commander Ron Poier saying sadly, “I see something that the gentleman, the ladies of this post would give their lives up for to protect it.”

Adame added, “This part of veterans’ organizations is to bury them with this flag. This is still touching.”
