Four people were charged Tuesday after allegedly skipping out on a bill in a restaurant near Anaheim and then running over with their car the waitress who had rushed to the parking lot to confront them.

Rowshaid Cordell Pellum, 24, the driver of the vehicle, was charged with two felony counts of aggravated assault and hit-and-run with injury, the Orange County District Attorney’s office announced Tuesday.

The incident happened Sunday night when waitress Maria Uriostegui followed a group of four people who had failed to pay their tab at the Mexico Lindo restaurant near Anaheim, according to KTLA5.

Surveillance footage reportedly showed Uriostegui reaching the parking lot, where the foursome had already gotten into their car. The waitress was trying to get the car’s license plate number when she was hit by the car as it sped away.

“They just walked out and I went to tell them, ‘I’m sorry, you guys forgot to pay your bill,'” Uriostegui told KTLA5 of the incident. “The four of them turned around, looked at me, laughed, and just kept walking to their car. We made eye contact, and they laughed it off and then they just drove. At that point I knew they weren’t going to stop so I tried to move out of the way. By then it was too late.”

Uriostegui, the mother of a 2-year-old daughter, called it a “miracle” that she only sustained minor injuries.

The group were reportedly arrested after investigators spotted the black Volkswagen Jetta they had been traveling in parked outside of a nearby Motel 6.

Santeea Munay Ralph, 23, Markeisha Michelle Williams, 18, and Shyteice Lashay Miles, 19, were arrested and charged with one count each of misdemeanor defrauding of an innkeeper. Pellum, who was allegedly driving the vehicle when it struck the waitress, faces up to four years and eight months in prison.
