On July 6 Los Angeles County Sheriff Jim McDonnell will be attending the “22nd Annual Gun Melt,” at which approximately “3,400 guns” are scheduled to be destroyed.
According to a news release from the Sheriff’s office, the guns were “confiscated within Los Angeles County by personnel from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department and ten participating law enforcement agencies.” It added that the Gerdau Steel Mill had donated its furnace for the destruction of the weapons.
These are firearms that could be sold back to law-abiding citizens, who could then use them to defend themselves and their families.
The melt is scheduled to take place at 10 a.m. at Gerdau Steel Mill in Rancho Cucamonga.
