The Hollywood Christmas Parade has selected two famous atheists to be its grand marshals. Magicians Penn and Teller, both avowed atheists, will host the event, according to ABC 7.

Penn Jillette has written the books, “Every Day is an Atheist Holiday” and “God, No! Signs You May Already Be An Atheist and Other Magical Tales.”

Examples abound of the duo’s atheism. In one short video the dialogue goes like this:

Interviewer: “People are good, Science is good, God is bad.”

Jillette: “Well, not bad, There’s just no such thing.”

Interviewer: Why, why do you think that?”

Jillette: “I don’t know why, it just is.”

Interviewer to Teller: “Do you think that, too?” Teller nods.

Appearing on Bill Maher’s Real Time. Jillette intoned, “I believe that the best way to become an atheist is to read the Bible, cover to cover, beginning to end … it’s horrifying.”

Jillette pointed out the incongruity of his selection by tweeting, “Hollywood Christmas Parade: Penn & Teller to Grand Marshal Annual Event | – Yeah Xmas – you gotta problem with that?” He has also tweeted that Christmas is “just a secular holiday.”
