On June 7, a marijuana dispensary owner shot and critically injured two would-be robbers, one of whom was armed.

The incident occurred around 11:00 p.m. in Walnut Park, south of downtown Los Angeles..

According to CBSLA, Los Angles County Sheriff’s officials say the store owner “saw the hooded robbers come into his store on his security camera.” He could see that one of the two would-be robbers was armed and sheriff’s officials say “both men wore body armor.”

The armed suspect was carrying “an assault rifle.”

The store owner opened fire, critically wounding both men. According to the Los Angeles Times, L.A. County Sheriff’s Sgt. Angela Kepley said both men “will be taken into custody if they’re released from the hospital.”

Another witness spoke to the local ABC News affiliate:

Jasmine Chavez, who lives just behind the business, said when she came out of her home a short time after the shooting, she saw the suspects being wheeled into an ambulance.

She then talked to the manager of the business.

“His reaction was wow, like lucky to be alive,” Chavez described. “He’s like, I had to do what I had to do to save my life and his employee there as well.”
