Royce: ‘Zero Accountability’ for Benghazi from Hillary Clinton

Rep. Ed Royce (R-CA), Chair of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, said Tuesday that Hillary Clinton had faced “zero accountability” for her dereliction of duty in the Benghazi terror attack that claimed four American lives.

“Today the former Secretary of State says ‘it’s time to move on’ – but there has been zero accountability,” Rep. Royce said in a statement responding to Clinton’s declaration at a campaign stop in Denver that it was time to “move on.”

“Four Americans died, yet no one has been fired,” Royce said. “No one even missed a paycheck,” he added.

The U.S. House Select Committee on Benghazi released its final report on the attack on Tuesday. Despite many new revelations and details about the degree to which Clinton failed to protect the U.S. facility there, and lied about a YouTube video to cover up the administration’s failure, the media reported that the committee had turned up no “new evidence.”

The terrorist attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi on Sep. 11, 2012 killed Ambassador Christopher Stevens and three others was one of the most significant terror attacks against the U.S. since the original 9/11.

“Americans – including all our men and women serving overseas – deserve better,” Royce said.

He further noted that “[t]he Obama administration failed on multiple levels before, during and after the Benghazi attack. Making matters worse, senior officials then misled the American people about what happened. They refused to tell the truth.”

The 800-plus page report also slams the Obama administration for “intentional failure to cooperate with this and other congressional investigations.”
