A 67-year-old woman has been charged with murder after becoming involved in a fistfight that reportedly left a 63-year-old woman dead in a Compton, Los Angeles park.

The incident occurred Thursday just before 7 pm.

According to ABC 7, the 67-year-old woman “became annoyed” with the (marginally) younger women for being too loud. The two began to argue, and law enforcement personnel said “the argument quickly became physical with both punching each other and one being hit with a cane.”

Both women eventually went to the ground, where the fight continued. Then “the 67-year-old suspect got up and walked away while the other complained she could not breathe,” ABC 7 reports. Police arrived to find the younger women unresponsive on the ground. They transported the 63-year-old woman to a hospital, “where she was pronounced dead.”

The 67-year-old woman was arrested and she is being held on $1 million bail at the Century Regional Detention Center.

Police are asking any witnesses with more information on the fight to contact the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department.
