Hillary Clinton to Address San Francisco Fundraiser by Teleconference

Hillary Clinton will be holding a fundraiser in San Francisco by teleconference on Monday after canceling a two-day trip to California on Sunday evening.

Clinton was diagnosed with pneumonia on Friday and appeared to collapse at the 9/11 Memorial in New York on Sunday morning.

Several media outlets reported on Monday that Clinton campaign spokesman Nick Merrill had announced the “last-minute fix” on Sunday evening. Merrill told the Los Angeles Times that the event “is proceeding as scheduled in her absence.”

Clinton was scheduled to appear at a large fundraiser in San Francisco on Monday at The Masonic.

According to CNN, Clinton’s campaign sent out an email to supporters which stated, “We strongly encourage you to join us at The Masonic as planned for a very memorable evening. With just 58 days until Election Day, it is important now more than ever that we have Hillary’s back and continue to do all we can to elect her our next President.”

Clinton had to depart early from a 9/11 commemoration ceremony on Sunday due to a medical emergency. A video clip captured by a memorial attendee shows Clinton appearing to collapse and requiring the help of several aides to place her in the vehicle.

Merrill had told media that Clinton “felt overheated so [she] departed to go to her daughter’s apartment, and is feeling much better.” Her doctor, Lisa Bardack, said Clinton had been diagnosed with pneumonia on Friday. “I have just examined her and she is now re-hydrated and recovering nicely,” she said on Sunday.

The Times notes that Clinton also had to cancel a taped interview for The Ellen DeGeneres Show in Los Angeles.

Prior to Sunday’s episode, Clinton’s health had been the subject of numerous reports in the media. Some had dismissed the reports as conspiracy theories, and Dr. Drew Pinsky’s show on CNN’s HLN was even cancelled after he questioned her health.

Clinton is scheduled to debate Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump at September 26 at Hofstra University in New York. It is the first of three presidential debates slated to take place before the November 8 election.
