Gun-Controlled San Francisco: ‘One Car-to-Car Shooting’ Each Week

San Francisco has a hollow point ammunition ban, a “high capacity” magazine ban, gun storage laws, and “one car-to-car shooting” each week.

In fact, the California Highway Patrol (CHP) says San Francisco has had “one car-to-car shooting” on average every week for the last two years.

According to the Los Angeles Times, CHP says that “there have been 100 car-to-car shootings” in the Bay Area since November 1, 2015. CHP has investigated 83 of these incidents and made arrests in 12.

Although CHP says “many” of the shootings are the result of gang activity, that does not change the fact that gun control is failing to curtail the behavior of criminals and gang members. In fact, it bolsters arguments made by Breitbart News, the NRA, Gun Owners of America, and the Second Amendment Foundation, who have said that gun control laws bind the hands of law-abiding citizens but do nothing to constrain criminals.

Moreover, the news of car-to-car shootings comes just months after Breitbart News reported that the number of San Francisco shooting victims hit a six-year high in 2016.

On May 2, 2017, the San Francisco Chronicle reported that overall crimes in San Francisco had fallen, but violent crime—which includes gun crime—surged. For example, property crime in San Francisco fell 11 percent in 2016 compared to 2015—and reported thefts, burglaries, arson, and stolen vehicles also decreased. But firearm-related murders for 2016 surged 15 percent over 2015 figures and the number of shooting victims in 2016 increased 27 percent over 2015.
