MATAMOROS, Tamaulipas — Kidnapping and extortion continue to hold hostage the population of the border city of Matamoros regardless of their social strata. Most recently cartel members have once again resorted to hijacking commercial buses inside the city limits and have also begun making telephone threats and extortions at the brave few citizens that have provided authorities information about the location of illegal gasoline sales.

Two commanders with Los Zetas who appear to be behind most of the kidnapping and extortion activity in the border city of Nuevo Laredo and the Tamaulipas State Capital of Ciudad Victoria are now behind bars.

Mexico’s Federal Police arrested Sarahi “La Hysteria” Garza Cadena during a traffic stop this past week in the border city of Nuevo Laredo. She was traveling in a car with two of her henchmen. Authorities recovered some weapons, a grenade, 15 kilograms of marijuana and communication equipment during the arrest, information released to Breitbart Texas by the Tamaulipas government revealed.

One member of the Zetas drug cartel who was tied to the brutal massacre of 72 Central American immigrants in 2010, has been captured by Mexican Federal Police. Jose Guadalupe “El Sasi” Reyes Rivera was caught this week while hiding out in a mechanic shop in Ciudad Victoria, the capital of the State of Tamaulipas, information released to Breitbart Texas by Mexico’s Attorney General’s Office revealed.

Two of the most respected independent publications in Mexico have acknowledged the effort made by Breitbart Texas to recruit citizen journalists in order to report on the daily violence along the Mexican northern border in a series called Cartel Chronicles. Mexico’s Proceso Magazine and Sin Embargo.mx have recently both published stories about the efforts made by Breitbart Texas to shed light on the escalating violence in the northern part of the country which is hardly ever reported by Mexican local news outlets since drug cartels and Mexican politicians have a history of silencing them.

REYNOSA, Tamaulipas — The constant infighting within the groups that make up the Gulf cartel point to a new wave of violence coming to in this border city. One of the fights that may bring more violence has to do with the apparent betrayal by one of the commanders who is believed to have tipped off authorities on another commander. That cartel leader answered with a swift revenge and execution.

The border city of Reynosa lived through a night of terror when a failed attempt to capture a Gulf Cartel commander set off a fierce shootout in one of the city’s main avenues. The shootout brought the city to a halt and terrified many families who had been out in shopping centers and restaurants to finish off their weekend.

MATAMOROS, Tamaulipas – Members of Mexico’s most powerful political party have rallied behind one of their colleagues wanted in Texas on a federal arrest warrant. The warrant accuses him of money laundering. The politicians are calling the move a media attack.

SUNLAND PARK, New Mexico — A Mexican border-area woman was tied to her bed, doused in gasoline, and burned to death by a Mexican cartel, according to children who were interviewed by Breitbart Texas through the U.S.-Mexico border fence. The Mexican minors were speaking from Juarez, Mexico.

MATAMOROS, Tamaulipas — The execution of a local commander with the Gulf Cartel called Ciclon 10 in this border city as he ate a local cafeteria called “La Chiquita” set off a day of firefights and heralds a new wave of violence in the already fierce war within the Gulf Cartel.

After getting 6,000 signatures of support, Jorge Renteria Campos the chairman of the Matamoros Bar Association is preparing to take the helm of the Independent Party in his quest for political office as a federal congressman.

MATAMOROS, Tamaulipas –Three innocent bystanders died after getting caught in the crossfire of a fierce firefight between rival cartel members in the most recent series of fierce firefights that have rocked this border city.

Once again the streets of Matamoros were painted in red this week when a vehicle pursuit and a gun battle led to a gruesome car wreck in the city’s southwest side near the Sendero Nacional highway.

La violencia imparable en esta ciudad fronteriza ha hecho que escuadrones de la muerte abunden por la ciudad buscando a sus víctimas las cuales tendrán una muerte lenta y dolorosa o si salen con suerte serán ejecutados rápidamente en frente de sus familias.

Mientras la guerra interna del Cartel Del Golfo la cual está por cumplir un mes y ha convertido a las ciudades fronterizas en zonas de guerra, una serie de ejecuciones muestran un posible cambio de tácticas. Donde antes las balaceras campales estaban a la orden del día, ahora los secuestros de rivales seguidos por brutales mutilaciones se están convirtiendo en un hecho cotidiano. La intención de la táctica aparenta ser un intento por sembrar terror en cualquiera que trabaje para una facción rival.

MCALLEN, Texas – The Mexican military killed four gunmen in two separate shootouts near the Texas border and managed to seize .50 caliber rifles, two belt-fed machine guns and three assault rifles.

As the Gulf Cartel continues their almost month long internal war that has turned various Mexican cities into warzones, a series of gruesome executions and mutilations appear to point to a major shift in tactics. Where open gunfights were the norm, now the targeting of individual enemies and gruesome mutilations are occurring. The intent appears to be an effort to strike terror into anyone who works against cartel faction.

A series of photos have emerged claiming to show dismembered bodies in Mexico. The photos paint a grim picture of the raging war taking place just south of the Texas border. The war that reignited this month has pitted two rival factions of the Gulf cartel against each other turning the cities of Matamoros and Reynosa into war zones where the residents are forced to go about their daily lives while trying to avoid firefights and gory crime scenes.

Federal agents arrested 17 suspected members of a Mexican Zetas cartel cell operating in Texas. Members of the cell moved massive quantities of of drugs from the Texas border city of Laredo to Dallas, Texas. The U.S. federal agencies involved in the task force ranged from the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Internal Revenue Service, all the way to the U.S. Border Patrol. Eleven accused members of the group were arrested in Laredo and two were arrested near Dallas. Four others were already in custody on other charges, information released to Breitbart Texas by the U.S. Attorney’s Office revealed.
