MATAMOROS, Tamaulipas — Kidnapping and extortion continue to hold hostage the population of the border city of Matamoros regardless of their social strata. Most recently cartel members have once again resorted to hijacking commercial buses inside the city limits and have also begun making telephone threats and extortions at the brave few citizens that have provided authorities information about the location of illegal gasoline sales.

Two Captured Zetas Commanders Blamed for Kidnappings near Border

Two commanders with Los Zetas who appear to be behind most of the kidnapping and extortion activity in the border city of Nuevo Laredo and the Tamaulipas State Capital of Ciudad Victoria are now behind bars.

Mexico’s Federal Police arrested Sarahi “La Hysteria” Garza Cadena during a traffic stop this past week in the border city of Nuevo Laredo. She was traveling in a car with two of her henchmen. Authorities recovered some weapons, a grenade, 15 kilograms of marijuana and communication equipment during the arrest, information released to Breitbart Texas by the Tamaulipas government revealed.

Mexican Authorities Arrest Zeta Accused in Massacre of 72 Immigrants

One member of the Zetas drug cartel who was tied to the brutal massacre of 72 Central American immigrants in 2010, has been captured by Mexican Federal Police. Jose Guadalupe “El Sasi” Reyes Rivera was caught this week while hiding out in a mechanic shop in Ciudad Victoria, the capital of the State of Tamaulipas, information released to Breitbart Texas by Mexico’s Attorney General’s Office revealed.

Two of the most respected independent publications in Mexico have acknowledged the effort made by Breitbart Texas to recruit citizen journalists in order to report on the daily violence along the Mexican northern border in a series called Cartel Chronicles. Mexico’s Proceso Magazine and Sin Embargo.mx have recently both published stories about the efforts made by Breitbart Texas to shed light on the escalating violence in the northern part of the country which is hardly ever reported by Mexican local news outlets since drug cartels and Mexican politicians have a history of silencing them.

Cartel Chronicles: Violent Cartel Firefight Kills Three Bystanders near the Texas Border

MATAMOROS, Tamaulipas –Three innocent bystanders died after getting caught in the crossfire of a fierce firefight between rival cartel members in the most recent series of fierce firefights that have rocked this border city.

Once again the streets of Matamoros were painted in red this week when a vehicle pursuit and a gun battle led to a gruesome car wreck in the city’s southwest side near the Sendero Nacional highway.

US Arrests 17 Suspected Members of Mexican Zetas Cartel Cell Operating in Texas

Federal agents arrested 17 suspected members of a Mexican Zetas cartel cell operating in Texas. Members of the cell moved massive quantities of of drugs from the Texas border city of Laredo to Dallas, Texas. The U.S. federal agencies involved in the task force ranged from the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Internal Revenue Service, all the way to the U.S. Border Patrol. Eleven accused members of the group were arrested in Laredo and two were arrested near Dallas. Four others were already in custody on other charges, information released to Breitbart Texas by the U.S. Attorney’s Office revealed.
