Tiny Part of CA Drought-Free

Good news for one small part of California; it’s not considered drought-ridden, like the rest of the state, anymore. The area, which represents .16% of the state and lies near Lake Havasu and the Colorado River, was removed from the drought list shown in the U.S. Drought Monitor Report, the Los Angeles Times reports.

Germany Joins California in Destroying Jobs with Renewables

Germany is getting hit with the nasty combination of deflation and higher energy costs as it follows California’s lead in shifting to renewable energy. Although other factors may be contributing to its economic decline, Germany’s transition from coal and nuclear energy to wind and solar renewable energy sources is forcing industries and consumers to pay substantially higher prices.

Illinois Won the First Sagebrush Rebellion

Nevada currently holds the unenviable record for the highest percentage of federally controlled lands within its borders – more than 80%! But this is not just a Nevada problem; the federal government controls about half of the all lands within the western states. In contrast, States east of Colorado have, on average, less than 5% federally controlled lands. But Nevada doesn’t even come close to the all-time record holder for federally controlled lands within a state.

On Tuesday evening and Wednesday, Jews across California and the world will celebrate Tu B’Shvat (literally, “the 15th of the Hebrew month of Shvat”), the “New Year for trees.” The holiday roughly coincides with the appearance of the first spring blossoms in Israel–as well as in California, large portions of which enjoy a similar climate to that of the Holy Land. In recent years, the religious holiday has been overtaken by environmental themes–and, lately, by anti-Israel activists.

California’s High Cost of ‘Sustainable Power’ Kills Jobs

California’s commercial and industrial energy costs are about 37% higher than the national average in the continental United States due to Governor Brown’s 33% sustainable energy mandate. And with rates 41% to 46% higher in San Diego County than the national average, local investment and job growth are being hammered.

More Oil-Trains Headed for California

On Sunday, the Center for Biological Diversity held a public forum at the San Jose City Hall to educate residents about what they believe are the dangers of so called oil-trains. According to the Center, tar sands oil and heavy crudes that will be brought in from Canada are most toxic, carbon intensive and dirtiest fuels on the planet.

193 Snowmen Built in Switzerland to Protest Global Warming
