REPORT: Man Flies From Saudi Arabia Without Passport After Bribing Airport Worker

JAFFA, Israel – An Egyptian citizen left Saudi Arabia and flew to Egypt without a passport after giving a Saudi airport worker a $7,000 bribe, according to a report in the kingdom’s newspaper Al Weeam.

According to the paper, the border police at Cairo’s international airport were surprised when the man arrived on a Saudi flight with only an Egyptian identification card and no passport.

The man reportedly told Egyptian authorities that he is employed as a salesperson at a Saudi company and his employer refused to return his passport. The man said he worked four consecutive years for the Saudi company and wanted to fly home to visit his relatives.

During his interrogation, the man admitted he had successfully bypassed security checks and passport inspection at the King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah by bribing an Indian citizen employed at the Saudi airport.

Egypt immediately registered a complaint with the Saudi authorities, the newspaper reported.
