Islamic State Takes Responsibility for Attack in Saudi Arabia

AMMAN, Jordan – Islamic State militants on Sunday claimed responsibility for two bombings at a police station near the capital of Saudi Arabia, the Amaq news agency reported.

“Three police cars caught fire following the attack, but it remains unknown whether any policemen have been hurt,” the pro-IS agency said.

This is the first IS attack on Saudi soil since the assassination of senior Saudi officer Ahmad Usseiri near the city of Jazzan on February 15.

“IS bends over backwards to carry out operations in Saudi Arabia,” a Palestinian jihadi source told Breitbart Jerusalem.

This is a very important piece of land for the Muslims, where Prophet Mohammed hailed from and where the two most sacred sites, Mecca and Medina, are located. But this land is occupied by Crusaders and American infidels, assisted by a corrupt family, and it’s incumbent on the mujahideen to return this stolen land to the Muslims and the caliphate.

Last year, IS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi appointed two “governors” (Emirs) over Mecca and Medina. Some believe this means IS has added Saudi Arabia to its list of targets, despite a string of Western reports that the kingdom cooperates with the organization.

In a bid to fend off accusations that it supports jihadi fighters in Syria and Iraq, Saudi Arabia recently launched a so-called “anti-terror international coalition.” Last month, the coalition carried out a massive maneuver that, more than an attempt to train for an offensive against IS, was believed to be a flexing of muscles vis-à-vis Iran.
