Fifty-one persons were shot, seven fatally, over the weekend in heavily gun-controlled Chicago.

The seven deaths continue the surge of homicides that had already surpassed 300 for the year by the end of Father’s Day weekend.

According to CLTV, a group of four people were “shot in broad daylight in front of a home on the Far South Side Saturday.” One of the four was a 19-year-old woman who is three months pregnant. And three persons were shot Sunday morning – one fatally – “during a party in East Garfield Park.” Police have yet to place anyone in custody for either of these shootings.

Breitbart News previously reported BET’s observation that the number of shootings in Chicago has gotten so high that only 11 percent of them received a police investigation in 2015. BET reported the number of shootings at “over 500” for 2015 and the number that received a “legitimate investigation” at 55.

Fifty-six people were shot over Father’s Day weekend in Chicago this year. Of those 56 victims, 13 died. And Father’s Day weekend followed a May that was the deadliest May Chicago has experienced since 1995. The Chicago Tribune reported “nearly 400” people shot and 66 killed in May 2016 alone.

It should be noted that Chicago has an “assault weapons” ban, a violence tax, state-imposed waiting periods on handgun and long gun purchases, and strict limitations on the number of gun stores allowed in the city, as well as regulations on where those stores can be located.

It is only June, and the Chicago Tribune reports the city is already nearing 1,900 shooting victims this year.
