The Times of Israel reports: Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Tuesday hit back at former prime minister and defense minister Ehud Barak, reportedly calling the ex-premier the “most failed” leader in Israel’s history.

“Barak is the most failed prime minister in Israel’s history,” Netanyahu was quoted by Channel 2 news as telling a group of ultra-Orthodox journalists.

“He’s the one who promised American aid and failed. Where’s the billions he promised for Israeli security? He can wag his tail and build his [political] comeback,” he said.

Netanyahu’s reported comments came in response to Barak’s recent offensive against the prime minister’s policies, leadership, and for souring US ties. Barak last week also alleged that Netanyahu recently opened Israel up to a “major security threat,” but would not elaborate due to the “sensitivity” of the matter.

“Nobody has any idea what he’s talking about,” Netanyahu was quoted as saying on Tuesday.
