Israeli Guards Intercept Cell Phone Shipment Meant for Hamas Inmates

The Times of Israel reports:  Israeli prison officials have intercepted a shipment of cellphones being sent to Hamas prisoners.

Guards at the Eshel Prison south of Beersheba grew suspicious when one Hamas-affiliated prisoner seemed to loiter near one of the prison’s outer walls, a place off limits to inmates.

A search of the area and on the prisoner’s person revealed several packages containing the cellphones and cellphone parts, among other items, which had been thrown over the fence, apparently during the night.

The Prisons Service has launched an investigation, it said.
