An NYPD officer was shot in the head at FDR Drive and 120th Street in East Harlem, wounded after a shoot-out with a suspect that the officer had pursued.
The shooting occurred at about 8:30pm local time. One suspect is in custody.
Radio host John Cardillo has posted audio of the “shots fired” call and what he says is a photo of the shooting suspect. Cardillo and the New York Daily News report that the officer has died from his wounds.
Police Commissioner Bill Bratton and Mayor Bill De Blasio arrived at Harlem Hospital to be with the officer while he was alive and in critical condition.
