A 14-year-old boy from Shropshire, in the West Midlands of England, is due in court this morning charged with raping a 10-year-old girl.
West Mercia Police said the teenager, who cannot be named for legal reasons, has been charged with rape and attempted rape after an incident before 3:30pm and 4:30pm last Friday.
The Shropshire Star reports that the incident occurred near the ‘Arc car wash centre’ on April 11th.
“After being questioned by specially trained detectives, he was charged yesterday evening and was kept in custody before appearing before a special bank holiday sitting of Telford magistrates today.”
Speaking at the time of the boy’s arrest last week, Detective Chief Inspector Neil Jamieson said: “This is clearly a significant development in our inquiry, however investigations continue into the case. I have previously stressed how important it is for people to speak to us if they have any information about the offence and that appeal has not changed despite this development.”
