London Teenager Charged with Preparing Terror Acts

A London teenager has been charged with preparing to commit acts of terrorism.

Kazi Islam, who is 18-years-old and from Manor Park, east London, was arrested by London’s Metropolitan Police on 13 August.

Police say he has been charged for violating Section 5 of the Terrorism Act and will appear before Westminster Magistrates Court tomorrow.

This is the latest in a series of terror charges in recent months in Britain. Last month, five men also appeared at Westminster Magistrates Court, charged in connection with a plot to kill police officers or soldiers on the streets of London.

Tarik Hassane, Suhaib Majeed, Nyall Hamlett, and Momen Motasim, were charged with intending to commit acts of terrorism, while Nathan Cuffy was charged with firearms offences.

The terror plot is believed to have been inspired by the self-proclaimed Islamic State, who have called on supporters unable to travel to Syria to fight jihad at home.
