Tony Blair

Former Prime Minister Tony Blair has submitted his resignation as Middle East envoy for the Quartet of the US, EU, Russia and UN, AP reports.

Blair will quit the role next month, although he wants to remain “active on the issues”. He has held the post since he resigned as Prime Minister in 2007.

The Quartet was formed in 1991 as an effort to mediate the Israel-Palestine conflict.
