LISTEN: Breitbart London’s Oliver Lane Talks Marion Maréchal-Le Pen And Front National On The Jon Gaunt Show

LONDON, United Kingdom — Breitbart London correspondent Oliver Lane was a guest on the Jon Gaunt show this morning, discussing Front National’s (FN) chances in this weekend’s crucial local election campaign.

Introducing the 25 year old ‘blonde bombshell’ Marion Maréchal-Le Pen, niece to party leader Marion Le Pen and granddaughter to party founder, Mr. Lane said the FN had enjoyed a record showing in the first round, but there was trouble ahead.

The French election system is stacked against insurgent parties, as the second sound system allows voters to form blocs against non-centrist candidates. Although the FN enjoyed their highest ever share last week in the first round, a coalition of leftist voters are likely to take the chance to rule away now their own candidates have largely been knocked out or even tactically withdrawn.

This trend is backed up by a midweek poll released in France yesterday, which suggests both Le Pens standing will actually be defeated come the weekend, losing seats to Nicolas Sarkozy’s centre-right republic party.

In Nord-Pas-de-Calais-Picardie and Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur, the regions where the Le Pens are standing, the socialist candidates have already withdrawn to free up their members to vote tactically for a centre-right candidate, the “second worst” option compared to the FN.

Talking on the Jon Gaunt show, Mr. Lane also spoke about special interest groups who are banding together to block FN. He said: “the chairman of the French Jewish Council said a few months back that these guys are legitimate now, they aren’t anti-Semitic and that’s fine.

“But they’ve gone against that this week, saying it’s the duty of French Jews to band together and vote against them. Now, this is totally counter-intuitive. We know that anti-Semitism is on the rise in France, and it isn’t down to French people. It is being imported, through mass immigration, and the sudden increase in the Muslim population.

“Now, the only p[olitical party in France that wants to do something about that is the Front National. Why wouldn’t French Jews vote for that?”.
