Dr. Ben Carson is reportedly helping Donald Trump, the presumptive Republican nominee, choose his vice presidential running mate. According to the Wall Street Journal (WSJ), Carson said he doesn’t want to be Trump’s running mate and that even Democrats could be considered.
“I’m not interested in doing that for a number of reasons,” Carson told WSJ. “I don’t want to be a distraction. I’m sure you remember how crazy the media was about me, I don’t want to be a distraction, it’s too important a time in our life.”
WSJ reports that as for “the wide net being cast for candidates,” Carson said, “We would consider people who are Americans and who put America first.”
