High Wycombe Train Station Evacuated, Armed Police Tell Passengers to ‘Move Away as Far as Possible’

Around 10 armed police officers evacuated High Wycombe train station, with passengers being cleared from a train and told to move “as far away from the station as possible”.

A train at High Wycombe station in Buckinghamshire, around 30 miles west of London and a known hot spot for Islamist radicalisation and terror plots, was evacuated at around 3:20 pm Tuesday by armed police officers.

At around the same time of day in Greater Manchester, a bomb squad was scrambled to a property in Wigan in connection with last Monday’s attack.

According to the Bucks Free Press, witnesses saw around 10 armed officers in six vehicles arrived on the scene.

A National Rail spokesman said: “Due to the police dealing with an incident near the railway at High Wycombe, there are delays of up to 30 minutes to journeys between West Ruislip and Princes Risborough. This is expected to continue until 16.30.”

“Both lines through High Wycombe are currently blocked due to the emergency services dealing with an incident,” Chiltern Railways said in a tweet.

Thames Valley Police have confirmed they were called to a “suspicious incident” at High Wycombe Railway Station after reports that a man was acting suspiciously at the rear of the train.

At 4:42 pm, Thames Valley Police released a statement saying the situation has been resolved:”The 2.55pm from London Marylebone to Oxford made an unscheduled stop at High Wycombe Railway Station, arriving at platform two at about 3.20pm.

“The train was evacuated by Thames Valley Police firearms officers and other passengers were cleared from the platforms.

“Two men were stopped and checked at the scene. Following enquiries the men have been released.

“No-one has been arrested or injured and police are now leaving the scene.”

Services are being resumed and passengers are being allowed back into the station.

British police and security forces have been on high alert following the Manchester terror attacks on Monday 22nd May, conducting several raids and arrests over the last week.
