Prince Harry and American actress Meghan Markle have announced their engagement and will be married in the Spring.

Clarence House announced the engagement between His Royal Highness Prince Henry of Wales and Suits actress Meghan Markle on Monday morning, confirming that the couple became engaged earlier in November.

“Prince Harry has informed Her Majesty The Queen and other close members of his family,” the statement read, which also confirmed that the couple will be living in Nottingham Cottage at Kensington Palace.

Further details of the wedding will be announced in due course, Clarence House confirmed.

Divorcee Ms. Markle, 36, has met Queen Elizabeth II, and Harry also has received the blessing of Markle’s parents, Thomas Markle and Doria Ragland.

Harry, 33, is fifth in line to the British throne.

Markle’s parents wished the couple “a lifetime of happiness”, in a statement sent out by Kensington Palace.

“We are incredibly happy for Meghan and Harry. Our daughter has always been a kind and loving person. To see her union with Harry, who shares the same qualities, is a source of great joy for us as parents.”

Prince Charles, Harry’s father, also extended his congratulations saying he was “delighted” to announce the engagement. The Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh were also delighted and “wish them every happiness”.

Prince William and his wife Kate, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, say they are excited for the couple: “It has been wonderful getting to know Meghan and to see how happy she and Harry are together.”

Prime Minister Theresa May offered her “very warmest congratulations” wishing the couple “great happiness for the future”.

Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby, the head of the Church of England, said he was “absolutely delighted to hear the news” and wished the couple “many years of love, happiness and fulfilment”.

Ms. Markle and Prince Harry met through mutual friends in London in July 2016, the meeting believed to have taken place at the private members club Soho House.

Harry and Ms. Markle were first publicly seen together as a couple, holding hands, in September at a wheelchair tennis match during the Invictus Games 2017 in Toronto, Canada.
